A week into the tournament and the 2007 Copa America has been absolutely fantastic. The group games have been full of goals, some of them exceptional, although the defending has been a bit dodgy at times. Add your thoughts on the tournament here…

Ok, so the Nery Castillo goal was good, and I’m sure Bergkamp would have been proud of it, but what about Robinho’s 3rd the other night against Chile ? A fantastic goal. He seems to play with a lot more confidence for Brazil than Madrid, or is he more at ease being top boy without Kaka and Ronaldinho ?

Fantastic tournament so far, the first I’ve really watched in detail. I agree that some of the defending has been a bit ropey but who cares – it has to beat a cagey 0:0 European borefest! What about the 2 goals Mexico scored – great moves. That cross from Blanco for Bravo was mint. Almost beautiful!

If the site decides to do a top 10 of the most bizarre injuries then Crespo’s has to be in there from his penalty in the Colombia game. Has everyone seen it ? Wonder if it was at the point he hit the ball or the little jump as he lashed it in ?

I’ve seen some of the Copa games on Sky, and whilst they’ve been exciting and some superb attacking play, I still dont think the teams on show (except Argentina, Brazil, possibly Mexico) could get results in the Euro Champs. The likes of Paraguay are looking quite good but when they face any decent Euro teams they usually look pretty ordinary and toothless. Take Roque Santa Cruz – hardly pulling up trees with Bayern, yet in the Copa he looks a world beater.

What about that performance from Riquelme in the Peru game ? Brilliant. The passing, the probing, 2 goals. Tremendous stuff. The semi against Mexico should be a belter.
